Academic Search Engine - Al-Idrisi

العربية

An open index of more than 800,000 Arabic scholarly works, searchable in English or Arabic.

What is Al-Idrisi?

A free search engine for scholarly work written in Arabic. The index holds 837,687 works: journal articles, master's and doctoral theses, books and conference papers. Most come from Arab journals indexed in OpenAlex, many of them on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank platform; theses are also gathered directly from university repositories that global indexes miss. No account is needed.

How to search

Type English or Arabic. English words match the English titles and abstracts that some sources provide. Common subject terms and names are also searched in Arabic: try Ibn Khaldun or sustainable development. Only about one record in ten has an English abstract, so an Arabic query reaches far more: ابن خلدون.

Operators: quotation marks for an exact phrase, OR between alternatives, a minus sign to exclude a word. The results can be narrowed by type, year and open full text. Each record page has a copy-ready citation and links to the full text where the source offers it.
